Update: I’ve announced the winners here
There’s something about wedding related photography that makes me click. I love to manipulate light in order to bring out the best in the persons I photograph.
When we planned our wedding, my wife’s desire was to get a hold of a birdcage veil. I don’t remember if these veils were popular back in 2007 when we had our wedding, but I do remember that it was very hard to get one. Especially hard, since we were in Romania. To make the story short – my wife didn’t get a birdcage veil. I know, probably you’re thinking what groom gets involved in the wedding planning. I must tell you – I even designed our wedding invitations.
I told you before that my wife has a small online boutique with wedding accessories (read the post below). I think our wedding is the one that triggered all: for my wife, the love for anything wedding related, but for me, the passion for wedding photography. Forward a little bit, and yesterday my wife asked me to photograph her with one of the birdcage veils she has for her store. It’s a beautifully hand made veil. A birdcage veil is for the vintage bride and for some reason, it made me think of Greta Garbo. My wife studied her make up and tried to emulate it. I don’t know how close she got to the original makeup, but look at the pictures and leave me a comment. Or, if you’re a vintage bride, I will love to photograph your wedding. I think it’s one of those weddings where you have to be really creative with your decor, flowers, outfits..
Even more, if you’re a vintage bride, I will like to offer you this veil free of charge. You must leave me a comment and tell me why you want this veil and what color you want it (white or ivory). The veil has a retail value of $72. I will pick a winner for the veil on June 10th 2009. You must reside in Continental US to be eligible. Please use a valid e-mail address for the comment- it’s the only way I will be able to contact you in case you win. Good Luck!
LE: I am so glad to see there is a lot of interest for the contest. There are going to be more giveaways in the (near) future so please check back even if you win this one : )

I'd love to hear about your wedding! Call (347) 949-8155 or e-mail me.
Oh my gosh I love this vintage bird cage veil! It gives off a very sophisticated vibe but at the same time makes the bride look glamorous. It’s not over the top where it covers the whole face and more and the touch of feather totally completes it. I would love to win and have this bird cage in ivory!
What a beautiful veil. I would love to win it. I have not picked out a dress yet and my wedding is in November. YIKES! I have always loved the birdcage veil look. It gives off a glamorous vibe.I am hoping to get a dress to work around this veil style. I would love to win the veil in ivory.
I am getting married in Paris in November. I can’t imagine NOT having a vintage wedding in a place as historic as Paris. We will be traveling with a small party – just 12 people – and I ask that everyone wear vintage clothes for the wedding…any era of their choice. I just recently purchased my wedding gown and I have yet to choose my veil…throughout my planning, I’ve always come back to the birdcage veil. I think the look of the birdcage veil is one of the main inspirations for my vintage wedding. I’ve always been nostalgic and *love* vintage fashion and shopping, but the Matthew Christopher Bridal website (www.matthewchristopher.com) and it’s model’s birdcage veil really inspired the whole look for me.
Opps I posted in the wrong spot at first. (and I’m so glad I realized and came here where there are lots more pics of the veil!) I’ll repeat
… Wow, what an amazing offer! I would LOVE to win this veil! I’ve 100% decided I want a bridcage veil for my wedding day and have been searching for the perfect one to go with my Vintage Garden Party theme. Well you’ve created it! It’s exactly the right amount of veil and the feather fascinator is gorgeous without being overwhelming. An ivory one would go perfect with my dress. Thanks again for posting this offer!
What great timing! I have been looking for “the perfect veil” for my wedding in September! I have seen a few that I liked but none that really knocked my socks off. This one is beautiful, not too overdone, and has the perfect amount of veiling. I would love to wear this on my wedding day in white!
From the very beginning, I knew I wanted a birdcage veil. Nothing complemented our Southern Vintage theme better. Not to mention, we have “birds” running through our wedding already – birds’ nest centerpieces, a Love Bird Wish Tree, and a birdcage “card box”. Certainly I would be amiss without a birdcage veil as well!
I would be so happy to win this veil! If I win, I would ask for it in ivory, and I would add a Gardenia to the already lovely feather fascinator, to add just a touch of Southern Charm.
I’ll keep my fingers crossed – this giveaway is such a blessing! At a time when so many brides – myself included – are feeling the tightening of budgets, it’s wonderful to have the opportunity to win such a beautiful, quality keepsake!
Birdcage veils are absolutely gorgeous and the photos are great. I’m a big fan of feathers (I’m carrying a featherd fan instead of a bouquet) so this veil is spot on.
If I were to win such a gorgeous headpiece, I would wear it to the small ceremony I’m having out of state so my grandparents can attend (one is in a nursing home with alzheimer’s and can’t fly out to my big ceremony in California.) This would be so chic in white with the Jessica McClintock tea length dress I’m packing. I also love that it’s light weight so my head won’t be sweating to death in the 10,000% humidity during the summer in Oklahoma during our small ceremony!
I just adore the look of a birdcage veil and it would work beautifully with my ivory lace gown (yep, I’d want it in ivory to match)! It is such a sweet vintage feel and is forever classic. I’ve always had a thing for birdcage veils…I used to dress up with my Grandmother and she would always let me wear her old pillbox veiled hats and I even have a picture of her at her 1920’s wedding in her very own birdcage veil (although I think they used to call it something different then). I have always (even as a little girl) imagined what I’d wear on my wedding day and the always constant piece was the veil. Thank you for this awesome giveaway, my fingers are crossed!
I love the retro look of a birdcage veil. It’s stylish and classic. It’s timeless. There is something that is sensuous but also demure about a bride who wears a birdcage veil. The flower fascinator also adds glamour and brightens up the bride’s face. An ivory birdcage veil would perfectly complement my ivory, all-lace mermaid gown, as well as my retro invitation. Thank you for the opportunity to win such a beautiful accessory to wear on the most important day of my life!
This veil is gorgeous. I would love to win it in ivory to match my dress!
Sorry for the double comment. I just read that you wanted a reason for wanting to win the veil so here is mine. When I started my wedding planning I knew for sure that the only thing I couldn’t wear a big long veil. It didn’t suite my personal style. I wanted something vintage something worthy of old hollywood glamour. This veil is the essence of that of that. Everything from the feather fascinator to the petit veil it still says bridal without being over done.
Thanks for the giveaway…
I want this! After struggling for weeks i decided once and for all that the long veil i had purchased was simply not me or my style, it wasn’t how i wanted to be on my wedding day and i wasn’t about to sacrifice my idea of my dream wedding for the only look that bridal stores offer! It’s dang near impossible to find any birdcage veils in my area and with the wedding in 4 months, 2 kids and the new home it’s too busy for me to make one! SO think of me :]! I could totally picture a beautiful ivory birdcage veil to go with my ivory dress!
i really want a vintage bird cage veil! my dress is very vintage looking, along with almost all of my wedding day accessories…in fact, there are many vintage aspects of our wedding…also, i live about 6 hours from any major city and it makes it hard to go out and try one of these beauties on….i would chose ivory because my dress is ivory…
thanks for the chance!
mathy
The veil is so beautiful! I am using a long mantilla length veil for my ceremony for my old Europe themed wedding, but I would love to have a birdcage veil to switch to for the reception. I would want ivory to match my dress.
Thanks!
I’m getting married in March of 2010 and at first thought, I didn’t want a veil. I want my wedding to be casual, different, fun, with a retro feel. When I went to try on dresses, I found this beautiful, 50’s style cocktail type dress. Lacy, full short skirt, so perfect. The wonderful lady helping me out said, “Oh, you must try a birdcage veil!” I was hesitant. Not sure if I wanted a veil at all, but when she put it on it completed the look. I loved it. It was so chic, dainty, and matched the dress perfectly. So I’m now on the hunt for the perfect veil, and I love the one featured here. Thank you for doing this giveaway, and hopefully I’ll be the lucky girl! Oh, and ivory, please.
My wedding gown is designed by Chrissy Wai-Ching. It is a one of kind gown handmade by her. I have been looking everywhere to find a wedding veil that will look just as stunning as my gown. I do not have a lot of money hence seaching here on weddingbee classifieds. So finding a handmade veil in my price range is nearly impossible.Chrissy is so amazing she has really given me the gown of my dreams without a one thousand dollar price tag. I had a baby about nine months ago here in Phoenix ( my first and only) and I am flying back to NY for my wedding. I really want to impress my friends and family. Everyone is so excited to meet the baby and I want my small hometown to remember my big day also! This veil is the one for me. I have been searching for a gown and veil for over a year and my wedding is June 27th. I have the perfect dress, and you have the perfect veil. Please consider me, you will really make my wedding perfect as well!!
The custom veils posted on this site are absolutely gorgeous.
Ever since I was knee-high to a grasshopper I’ve dreamed about my wedding day. While other little girls were playing with dolls, I was forcing my neighborhood friends to play bride with me (what can I say? I was a bit of a tyrant).
On a very small budget (built with the hard work of a newspaper reporter and a firefighter) my fiance and I are paying for our November 2009 wedding and can’t wait until our big day. On a trip to a bridal store in Denver, I found a fantastic ivory dress on sale in December and purchased it right away.
I have my dream dress and am thrilled at the chance to wear it. I am seriously lacking in extra funds for accesories though. Call me crazy, but I guess it’s more important to my fiance and I that we be able to feed EVERYONE who comes than for me to have a fantastic veil…
Priorities, priorties.
I would be proud to wear one of your ivory veils. I would love to win one to be able to have a story with the gorgeous piece of art sitting atop my head on one of the biggest days of my life.
Thanks for your consideration in advance.
This veil is absolutely beautiful, and would play in wonderfully with my vintage-concept wedding. I am planning on wearing an ivory, lace v-neck dress, and this veil would add the perfect amount of sass to the dress. I would be honored to wear your veil on my big day.
I’d love to wear this veil in ivory with my vintage wedding dress. Birdcage veils have the mystery and romance of a traditional veil but I feel are classier and more cutting edge. This veil would be perfect for my Catholic ceremony to my Marine Corps officer! I would feel so lady-like and confident in such a stunning look!
As a college student who is receiving her degree (in 15 days!) and entering a graduate program a month before the wedding, I am always on the look for discounts and freebies. I never have much luck in contests and drawings, but I couldn’t not comment on how beautiful this veil is. It would be a very chic addition to my wedding day look. My dress is ivory, so ivory would be the color for me! Thanks for giving away something that will truly touch someone on their wedding day.
I would LOVE this birdcage veil to complete my wedding look! This would truly compliment my lace dress and vintage affair. I think the veil in ivory would match perfectly. Thanks!
I originally wasn’t planning on having a veil at all, but after seeing this beautiful birdcage veil, you’ve got me sold! We’re having a vintagey (I know, I know…it’s not a word) feel to our wedding with vintage Japanese accents. A birdcage veil would be a perfect addition to my get-up!
) I have a very “plain”, simple dress (Kayla, by Jenny Yoo) and this veil would add the “flair” I’m in need of! Preferable in ivory, please. Mahalo!!!
Your photos are just beautiful! The veil is amazing! I just became engaged and this is exactly the look I am going for! I would love this in ivory! So beautiful!
Hello, thanks so much for this contest, it is a gorgeous veil! I would love the ivory one to match my dress. My original plans were for a huge wedding here in my hometown, my red dress called for a birdcage veil too. However, we have switched plans and are now going to Vegas, so it’s a new sort of vintage- 50s vintage with a tea length dress and getting married in a Vegas chapel!
I would love to win this beautiful veil! I’d like it in ivory, as my dress will not be stark white. As soon as I started thinking about my wedding day outfit, I knew a birdcage veil was for me – all of the drama and none of the fuss of longer veils! I will be getting married and having my reception outdoors, and I really think the veil will compliment the look I’m going for. Thanks so much for running this contest!
What a beautiful veil. I’d go for ivory, as my dress is a champagne color.
I want it because I want to feel fabulous!1
My theme is old world charm.
I want to feel chic, elegant and mysterious.
It’s absolutely divine and mah-va-lous, dahling!
Fabulous-ness. Adds a beautiful bridal touch and not over-the-top. Loove it! Hope to win it.
I’ve been looking everywhere for one of these! This beautiful, perfect veil is an absolute classic that will never go out of style. It brings to mind the good old days of Hollywood and the glamorous movie stars from way back when. Just seeing this picture gives me inspiration to create a whole wedding centered around the beauty of this veil. If I win, I’d love to have this treasure in white.
What a beautiful veil! We are having an outdoor ceremony at a small B&B, and this would be fantastic in white. I would love to win!!

If only I could look as glamorous as your Mrs! She and the veil are both truly stunning. Linked to you from Offbeat Brides. I would like to be considered for this veil because it is simply divine and I would feel like a movie star on my wedding day. As a matter of fact, I believe I would wear it more than once. I’d invent reasons to wear this cunning confection. To the grocery! To the PTA meeting! To any and all doctor appointments! On beer runs! You see, I *need* some glamour in my life!
PS your photos are divine.
I am obsessed with birdcage veils and this one is just gorgeous! I love the vintage flair and sassy-sweet feather. I’d love to wear this in ivory to go with my lace and tulle dress for our country club wedding in Nebraska. ^_^
I love the timeless classic look of this birdcage veil. She really doesn’t need anything else – even the necklace she’s wearing – and I love the way the veil falls over the eyes give her an alluring look. It’s exactly the style and feel I am looking for to complement my ivory lace wedding dress. My wedding is an outdoor evening wedding in NYC. The ivory birdcage veil would perfect. Thank you.
My head, with feathers
Surely makes a rockin’ bride
Add coy netting, ah!
This birdcage veil is the bees’ knees and would be the icing on the cake for my wedding day. My dress is vintage 1950’s Bianci and this detail would perfectly offset the overall style. Wonderful giveaway!
Best,
Meredith
I am in LOVE with birdcage veils! I am the first one in our family to get married, and NONE of my friends have. So I had no ideas prior to planning, and have sort of become an offbeat bride without knowing it. I thought I wanted a certain type of dress, but trying it on it didn’t feel “right.” It was too princess-y. The sweetheart-necklined gorgeous white dress I tried, with amazing fabric details and slight crystal beading, felt PERFECT. THe bridal store gave me a birdcage veil to try, and I was hooked. With my perma-plum nails and antique engagement ring, I felt like total Old Hollywood. It’s coming together so perfectly for me and I’d love this accessory in white to really complete my look!
hi! i’m getting married in a bowling alley, so i’m trying to class up the wedding and reception as much as i can. your ivory birdcage veil is both whimsical AND classy — it’d be an honor to wear it!
Hi there! We just got engaged over the Memorial day weekend and as I start to think about the wedding, I realize – I need an inspirational piece! This Birdcage veil just may be exactly what I’m looking for to center me and ground me as I forge ahead. It’s elegant, classy, but also has that whimsical twist. It would be a great start!
oh, and I’d prefer it in white.

A birdcage veil would complete my ideal bridal ensemble. We are having an outdoor ceremony, and a birdcage veil would satisfy my desire for a touch of tradition without the inconvenience of an extended veil. The charm and classic design fits in perfectly with our vintage theme.
Ivory would ideal
I am wearing my mother’s 1978 wedding gown…it is gorgeous and timeless, but I am doing my best to add my personality to her very simple vintage gown. I have started with apple green heels and I have been trying to decide if I want to wear a veil or just a flower in my hair. I think a flower birdcage in ivory would be the something new to make this dress mine. I am so thrilled to wear her dress, and honor my parents marriage of 30 years. Thank you for your consideration.
Amanda
The birdcage veil is for a bride that is unique, sophisticated and has a style all their own. The birdcage veil sets you apart from the typical bride and adds a air of glamor, that awes guests. I love taking something classic and mixing it with something modern the result is stunning. I knew from day one I wanted a birdcage veil to complete my look. When I picture myself walking down the aisle I know that my guests will be surprised and delighted by my choice in attire and fashion and I know that most have never seen a bride wearing a birdcage veil!! I feel like the veil and wedding attire is a glimpse into what the rest of the day and evening has to entail. I feel that wearing a birdcage veil will complete my vintage inspired look.
I forgot the color…ivory.
Much like every girl out there, I’ve been dreaming up my wedding since I was a little girl; there we’re always the same elements to the scene… a handsome man at my side, a giant pouffy gown and a birdcage veil. My grandmother wore one and I always adored it. Well now I’m getting married and i have the handsome man and we’ve decided to tie that euphoric knot! The plan is a Halloween Wedding. Think vintage, haunted mansion… elegant with deep reds and blacks. I adore this birdcage veil and money is tight as it is, every penny counts. Thanks for the consideration! Oh yeah, if I did win it, Ivory would work best. Thanks again!
Cheers,
Michelle
I would love to have the ivory birdcage veil for my wedding! They’re sophisticated, classic, and beautiful. Initially, I vetoed the idea of a veil altogether, and thought of just wearing a flower in my hair. But while searching through pages of fascinators, I just became engrossed in the need for a birdcage veil. I’ll be wearing a tea-length dress, and I just feel like it would fit into my vision. I’m really a no-fuss person and cannot imagine having a huge veil to “deal with”. I don’t want to “deal with” anything on my wedding day, I want to bask in everything. The birdcage veils just meet all of my needs, I guess. It would also be a nod to my grandmother…as she’s really the only person who shares my interest in the timelessness. Thanks for the chance to win this! The photos are gorgeous!
Your veil is beautiful and classy. My grandparents have been married for 62 years and I will be wearing my Grandmother’s dress at my wedding. I would love to win a white veil to wear on my wedding day. Thanks!
Thank you so much for posting this giveaway, it’s such an uplift for brides that just can’t seem to find exactly what they are looking for! When we find little things like this it reminds us of how beautiful and fun are weddings are supposed to be (not filled with stress!). I just wanted to say that I am a tomboy, through and through. My fiance has had to put up with a lot of that thus far (thank goodness he loves me for who I am) I’m one of the few women that I see driving a truck in the city. I’ve given up my boy cargo shorts for him and have tried not to wrestle with him so much (after all I grew up with older brothers, what else do I know). However, this veil would be a perfect accent to my very plain white wedding dress (too much glam is not for me
) It would also be a great way to show my feminie side to my future husband, after all he is marrying a woman (not a ‘tom’boy) and that’s just what I want to give him. Thanks again!
Your veil is beautiful! I love the birdcage because it’s got that modern/vintage/everything old is new again feel. I’m getting married on a historic boat in Philadelphia in December and can’t imagine walking down the aisle without a birdcage veil (and red shoes! – to hop on all the trends.) I would love to win this veil, preferably in ivory. Thank you! And good luck to all the other brides too! and Congratulations.
